Approved Travel Clinic

We understand exactly how exciting it can be to travel; however it’s very important that you be well prepared as well as properly immunized before you start on your holiday. When you travel overseas, there is an up to 50% chance of you suffering from travel-related illnesses. In most cases, these illnesses are a result if consuming contaminated water and food, while in others, it’s caused by animal or mosquito bites.

The doctors at Citydoc Integrated Services will be able to give you complete advice about the vaccinations that are required for different travel destinations. We are a one-stop-shop for any travel medication and vaccination needs. Regardless of what your destination is, we can help prepare you for a healthy & safe travel; it also helps ensure that your health is managed well when you are travelling as you get the best medical services and advice.

You only have to ensure that you make your appointment with your doctor at Citydoc well in advance as certain vaccinations have to be given over a period of time (3-6 months); they also have to be completed within a certain timeframe before your departure. In order to ensure that you are covered adequately, it’s important that you visit your doctors at least 2 month before you leave. You can get comprehensive information about travel vaccinations at these sites:

Some travel mistakes you just can’t afford to make

Just as you make all your travel plans and book your tickets well in advance, it’s equally important that you plan your travel vaccinations months in advance. Depending on where you are travelling, you might have to take vaccinations or medications for:

  • Malaria
  • Protection from water-borne diseases such as typhoid
  • Various diseases spread by bacteria and viruses

In addition to this, it’s important to:

  • Use a hand sanitizer when you are travelling
  • Practice safe sex and always use a condom
  • Avoid eating raw vegetables and fruits
  • Get travel insurance. This is as important as your passport. Though most Australians tend to travel safely when they are overseas, it’s always good to have adequate medical cover when you are travelling.

It can be a nightmare to fall ill when you are travelling. Dont delay visiting your GP to clearly discuss which vaccinations and medications you need to take before you leave.
